Nice spelling in that big post, Smooth. Looks like you were giving Sarg dictation and he posted it for you.

NOTE: I am not a lawyer. I do not hold any position of authority within LanWar/MillionManLan. I work for them and run their DM tournaments.
Regardless as to how long each party has been running, Lanwar Inc. owns the trademark to "Lanwar", and has for quite some time. From what I recall, the IUCGC was asked to not use that name,
and they agreed, or at least seemed to, since I recall seeing the words "lan war" in their later advertisements / postings. It wasn't a huge deal, and could even be seen as being kind of "picky", depending on your point of view. It's been within the last year, at least that I've noticed, that their advertisements/postings have gone back to using the word "lanwar" in their event name.
Now that the Lanwar "brand" is attached to the World Series of Video Games, it's going to have to be protected from being used without consent, moreso than in the past. If Lanwar Inc. decides to make an "official" request for the IUCGC to change their name, it'll be just like any other company trying to protect their brand. That's just business.
It's a shame it's not this weekend, cause I'd stop by. I'll be up there to work on my sister-in-law's new computer and to eat up some buffalo and drink some Upland Wheat at the Upland Brewery. BBQ Buffalo Bacon Burger FTW.
